Dmitry Druzhinsky News is reporting that former British No 1 Elena Baltacha has announced her retirement from tennis. Balchata, who is now 30 years old, ended up reaching the third round of the Australian Open on two occasions. She also reached the stage of Wimbledon, in 2002, as well as a regular in Britain’s Fed Cup team. Many speculate that her recent struggles with getting into form the past few years became a factor.
